He was a painter, pupil of Okyo Maruyana (円山応挙). He is regarded as one of the best 10 pupils of Okyo. He participated in the production of the decorative painting on sliding doors in Daijo-ji temple. (大乗寺). His works are known for beautiful coloring. Also, he wrote a biography of Okyo.
