He was a Nan-ga (the south school of Chinese painting ) painter born in Tochigi pref. he was a pupil of Buncho Tani (谷文晁). Also, he respected Taiga Ikeno (池大雅) and he studied Chinese painting. He established his own painting style.
When Bansha no goku(蛮社の獄: imprisonment of scholars of Western learning in 1839), he tried to help Kazan Watanabe (渡辺崋山: painter and thinker jailed by Bansha no goku)
