He was a monk of Obaku-sect (黄檗宗) and painter born in Kyoto. His father was painter, Yukikatsu Tokuriki(徳力之勝). So he studied painting from his father. In 1670, he became a disciple of a monk of Manpuku-ji temple (萬福寺), Kosen(高泉). He drew many painting involved with Zen (禅).
