Takuan Soho

1573~1645
He was a monk of Rinzai-sect (臨済宗) born in Hyogo pref. He was a chief monk of Daitoku-ji temple (大徳寺). He was banished to Idewa (now Tohoku section ) when the incident called Shie-Jiken(紫衣事件: the great conflict between the Japan’s feudal government and the Imperial Court). Later, he was absolved and built a temple named Tokai-ji temple(東海寺).
