He was a novelist born in Tokyo. He entered Tokyo Imperial University and majored in English literature. Also, he participated in the publishing of the literary magazine, “Shinshicho” (新思潮). His novel, “Hana” (鼻: The Nose) was earned high praise by Soseki Natsume (夏目漱石). His major works are “Rasyomon” (羅生門) and “Haguruma” (歯車). He wrote many novels dealing with classical literature and things around him. He died at the young age of 36.
