Hashimoto Kansetsu

1883〜1945
He was a Japanese-style painter born in Hyogo pref. He studied Chinese poet from his father, Kaikan Hashimoto (橋本海関). At first, he drew Nan-ga(南画:a school of Chinese painting) Then he studied under Seiho Takeuchi (竹内栖鳳)and acquired the brushwork of Shijo-ha(四条派:a school of Japanese-style paiting). His best-known work is “Genen” (玄猿：gibbon )
