Kaigetsudo Ando

He was an Ukiyo-e (浮世絵: picture of the floating world) painter. He was strongly influenced by Moronobu Hishikawa (菱川師宣) and Kiyonaga Torii (鳥居清長). He specialized in Bijin-ga (美人画: picture of beautiful women ). He drew the standing beauties in bold brushwork and beautiful colors and established his own style. He was banished to Oshima island for involvement in Ejima-Ikujima Incident in 1711 but he came back to Edo receiving an amnesty in 1722.
