Torii Kiyomasu

It is said that he was the son of brother of Kiyonobu Torii (鳥居清信) but there is no relible proof. He inherited the style of Kiyonobu, and produced Sumizuri-e (墨摺絵:a ), Tann-e(丹絵) and so on. Using the art of drawing, “Hyotan-ashi” (瓢箪足) and “Mimizu-gaki” (蚯蚓描), He drew Yalusya-e (役者絵: painting of actors). He expressed the valiant actor with swollen muscle and these works became popular.
