Ema Saiko

1787〜1861
She was a Japanese-style artist born in Gifu pref. He studied painting under Syunkin Uragami (浦上春琴) and Chinese poem under Sanyo Rai (頼山陽). Saiko was proposed marriage by Sanyo but her father rejected this. She was good at picture of bamboo with Indian ink. She founded Hakuo-sya (白鴎社) with Seigan Yanagawa (梁川星巌) and his wife.
