Ooka Shunboku

1680～1763
He was a painter born in Osaka. It is said he studied the brushwork of Kano school and Chinese painting by himself. He was conferred the artist rank, Hogen (法眼) and Hokyo (法橋). He published many picture book including “Gako Senran” (画巧潜覧) and “Wakan Meiga En” (和漢名画苑). He produced not only painting but waka poem.
