Kataoka Tamako

1905〜2008
She was a Japanese-style painter born in Hokkaido. She studied under Koka Yamamura (山村耕花), Tadao Yoshimura (吉村忠夫) and Yukihiko Yasuda (安田靫彦). She became a member of Nihon Bijyutsuin (日本美術院:The Japan Art Institute) and a professor of her alma mater. She produced powerful pictures whose theme was historical figure and Ukiyo-e painters. She won the Order of Culture.
