He was a monk born in Oita pref. He became the head priest at Syogyo-ji temple (正行寺). Then, he became a teacher at Higashi-honganji temple (東本願寺). He had interacts with many painter including Chikuden Tanomura (田能村竹田), Kaioku Nukina (貫名海屋) and played an important role in Kyoto literati art world.
