Ookubo Ikkyu

?~1859
Details are unknown. He was a painter in Yokosuka. Many of his posthumous work are written in the brushwork of Maruyama-Shijo school. Also, there are some Western-style paintings. Ikkyu was an adopted son of the scholar of Dutch studies, Kanko Takamori (高森観好). That is why he had the knowledge of Western art.
It is said Ikkyu studied under Kokan Shiba (司馬江漢) because there is his name in “Yoshino Kiko” (吉野紀行) written by Kokan.
